We wade our jeep back from the silent jungle—disappointed. The
guide did show some pug-marks and tiger scrap lying around. But then he is been doing that since last week.
Patience is a virtue, he says. Duh!!
My thought swims through the scattered leaves, the branches
of the tree and the echo of deer calls in the distance. Dusk is creeping in. We've gotta get out of here.
Suddenly, the
jeep came to a screeching halt. Waking me up from reverie.
I look up to
see her standing right in front, prowling in the backdrop of magical sunset—eyeing
her dinner.
haha! He should have waited to grumble until the trip was really over. I hope the tiger's looking at him, miserable so and so. I liked the way you made us feel his disappointment. There seem to be a few typos that could be cleared up with a careful proofreading (for example, 'did showed' and 'we've to get')
ReplyDeleteHello elmowrites,
DeleteMy apologies for the typos, it's a result of bad proofing on my part. I hope it did not kill the story for you.
Thanks

Let's hope she's not really that hungry... nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI hope that too. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI like the way you left it open, even though you hinted, at what the tiger was considering for dinner. One thing I noticed here: "he is doing that." Perhaps "he's been doing that" works better. Good story about a subject not usually covered.

My Dear Janet,
DeleteIn India, people go for Jungle Safaris with the intention of spotting the Tigers, and if they don't chance upon them, they go berserk. I tried to capture that here.
Pardon my typos, I am having a bad-proofing day.
And capture it you did--I love those last three words.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
